The Godparents of RETRO-MODERN-ROCK

Records by R-A-D...

Once upon a time in a small town on the coast of a country completely surrounded by sea, there lived a little boy and a little girl. The boy was tinkery and naughty. The girl was quite nice and played music in church. Then one day, punk happened and both cut their hair and were sent home from school for having bald spots and un-approved colours. Neither of them knew each other at that stage. Both were in bands though and one evening the girl needed someone tinkery to help her out with some new-fangled music device. She turned up at the house of the boy and kept turning up for many many years after. That's how Reason and Devotion was born.

On "Retro-Modern-Rock"... The first thing we did was an EP called Musique Concrete. For whatever reason we didn't do anything else for a while. Then I guess we sucumbed to the seven-year itch and came up with Pax which was inspired by jazz and our travels in Italy and France. But it was only after another longish hiatus between Pax and America that you could really call what we did 'rock'. We'd kind of returned to our John Peel-listening roots, but kept the our more jazzy psyche intact! <R&D 2018>
